Environmental Policy
In 2001, we acquired ISO 14001 certification as a foundation to pass on beautiful water, land, and air to the next generation. Since then, we have maintained our certification without any problems for 20 years. In our FY2021 audit, certification was granted for 12 offices (all of our offices as of September 2021).
We will continue to maintain and operate our environmental management system and to promote environmental improvement activities.
Scope of Applicability: Organizations belonging to MIDAC's certification scope, land and buildings managed by such organizations, or rental properties.
Initiatives to Improve the Environment
In order to carry out environmentally improvement activities that are closely linked to our core business activities, the MIDAC Group sets activity targets according to the work of each section.
In FY2021, we improved the work environment and work methods at waste treatment facilities, as well as on education about waste collection methods that aim to prevent scattering and leakage during waste collection. For example, we introduced an assist suit as a way to counteract back pain during work that involves a half-sitting/half-standing postures, which has improved the working environment.
Additionally, in order to examine the future of waste treatment from multiple angles, we are involved in joint research with universities and working groups with other companies to develop new technologies.
Material Balance
We strive to understand and analyze the overall picture of the environmental impact generated by our business activities and to reduce it.
Electricity Generated at Incineration Facilities
As one of our measures to reduce our environmental impact, to the greatest extent possible, we use the heat generated when incinerating waste to save energy.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We recognize that a large amount of energy is consumed in the collection, transport, and disposal of waste, and we are working to reduce the environmental impact of our business activities.
Response to Climate Change (Disclosure Based on TCFD Recommendations)
Based on our endorsement of the TCFD recommendations, the MIDAC Group analyzes the risks and opportunities that climate change poses to our business and promotes information disclosure.
Participation in RE Action
From December 23, 2021, we participated in RE Action. Based on this, we aim to use 100% renewable energy for the entire Group by 2050.
RE Action
A framework for organizations such as companies, local governments, educational institutions, and medical institutions to express their intentions and actions to convert their power consumption to 100% renewable energy, and to promote the use of 100% renewable energy.
