2012
- Made MIDACFUJINOMIYA CO., LTD. into a wholly owned subsidiary.
-
Due to a slowdown in the domestic economy, the business environment continued to be severe, with the amount of waste being generated by businesses decreasing. Amidst this, it was necessary for us to improve profitability by expanding the waste disposal business and streamlining management of the entire Group. As such, under these circumstances, on April 1, 2011, we made MIDAC FUJINOMIYA CO., LTD., which was established as a joint venture with TAKUMA Co., Ltd., into a wholly owned subsidiary.
2013
- Opened the Seki Business Office, the first location in Gifu Prefecture
-
In January 2013, we acquired a waste liquid treatment facility (located in Obuto-cho, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture) that was owned by one of our business partners, and approximately 130m2 of land through a business transfer, after which we opened the Seki business office, which was our first location in Gifu Prefecture. The facility has a waste liquid treatment capacity of 300m3/day, one of the largest in Gifu Prefecture.
The Chuno area of Gifu Prefecture is a transportation hub where the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway and the Tokai Kanjo (loop) Expressway come together, and manufacturing factories are also concentrated in the area, including Seki Techno Highland, a large-scale industrial park. Because of these factors, we decided to expand into Seki City, judging that it would be a strategic base for expanding our businesses into the Chukyo region.
March 2015
- Made SANKO CO., LTD. into a wholly owned subsidiary.
-
With the goal of strengthening the foundation of our waste disposal business in the Chukyo area, in March 2015, we made SANKO CO., LTD., which collects, transports, and performs intermediate treatment on industrial waste in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, into a wholly owned subsidiary. As a long-established industrial waste disposal company, SANKO CO., LTD. has a good business track record, such as doing business with major airlines, and has gained tremendous trust from local governments.
Several years ago, we had been introduced to SANKO CO., LTD. by a consulting company as a potential transferee company, but at that time we didn't reach a contractual agreement. After that, around May 2014, the President of SANKO CO., LTD. contacted us again about a potential transfer, and, as a result of earnest negotiations, we reached an agreement to acquire SANKO CO., LTD.'s shares.
August 2015
- Acquired "Platinum Kurumin" certification
-
We are also focused on improving our working environment, which was one of the goals set by President & Representative Director Yaitabashi. As one of our major efforts, we designated the two-year period from April 2011 to March 2013 as a period for promoting childcare support and work-life balance, and we did so by expanding the childcare support period and by strictly enforcing no-overtime days, etc. In recognition of these efforts, we were certified as a "Kurumin" company that supports childcare.
In August 2015, based on the Revised Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children, we acquired special certification (commonly known as Platinum Kurumin certification) from the Shizuoka Labor Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
2015
- Made SANSEI KAIHATSU CO., LTD. into a wholly owned subsidiary
-
In December 2015, with the goal of securing a final disposal site for industrial waste, we acquired all the shares of SANSEI KAIHATSU CO., LTD., which operates a final disposal business in Hamamatsu City, and made it into a wholly owned subsidiary. This was a very large gamble, with an investment that was equivalent to MIDAC's total assets, but we were confident that the return would be significantly higher than the investment.
In addition, the final disposal site owned by SANSEI KAIHATSU CO., LTD. will not only become a replacement facility for the Kurematsu Business Office, which was reaching its permitted landfill capacity, but MIDAC and SANSEI KAIHATSU CO., LTD. were the only waste disposal companies in Hamamatsu City that can dispose of toxic asbestos, so making them into a subsidiary was extremely significant.
Additionally, SANSEI KAIHATSU CO., LTD. changed its name to "MIDAC HAMANA, CO., LTD." on the day it became a subsidiary.
2017
- New listing on stock exchanges
-
MIDAC had been promoting corporate reforms to strengthen its management base, and in December 2017, MIDAC was listed on the Second Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange, and in December 2018 we were listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
One of the most difficult parts of preparing for the listing was responding to the questions from the stock exchanges. Preparing answers and our securities registration statements in a limited time was very labor intensive. In preparing the documents, we had to check things with the lead managing underwriter, the auditing firm, the Finance Bureau, and all throughout MIDAC, and coordinating all of this took a significant amount of effort. But we overcame all of these many obstacles and were finally able to achieve our major goal of being listed on the stock exchanges.
2018
- Acquired permit to establish a new controlled landfill site
-
On September 22, 2017, we completed the procedures stipulated by Hamamatsu City for our plan to establish a new controlled landfill site, the "Okuyama-No-Mori Clean Center," (located in Okuyama, Inasa-cho, Inasa-gun; currently Okuyama, Inasa-cho, Hamana-ku in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture), and on September 27, Hamamatsu City accepted our application for a facility permit based on the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Law.
Then, on December 20, 2018, we were granted an installation permit from Hamamatsu city and the Okuyama-No-Mori Clean Center began operations in February 2022.
2019
- Keiko Kato appointed as President & Representative Director
-
In April 2019, Keiko Kato was appointed as President & Representative Director. Since she joined MIDAC HOLDINGS in August 2006, Kato has supported MIDAC as a tax accountant. After joining the company, she has held positions such as Director and General Manager of the Accounting Department at MIDAC HOLDINGS, as well as Director and Manager of the Accounting Department and Manager of the Management Department at MIDAC. She has received strong evaluations for her organizational reforms and for her work in preparing for MIDAC's listing during her time, and her appointment as President & Representative Director was unanimously approved at the Board of Directors Meetings. She is the first female President since MIDAC's founding.
2019
- Moving up to the First Section on the Nagoya and Tokyo Stock Exchanges
-
MIDAC was listed on the Second Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange in December 2017 and on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2018. Then, in December 2019, we were listed on the First Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange and the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. We moved up to the top section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange only two years after being newly listed.
Investor's understanding of the MIDAC Group's businesses has deepened, and therefore we have been able to raise funds through equity financing, which has enabled us to advance into the Kanto region and we have sped up our management. Being listed has also been beneficial in a number of ways, such as improving MIDAC's name recognition, increasing our reputation and credibility with business partners and local governments, and attracting outstanding human resources.
April 2020
- Launch of the COVID-19 Countermeasures Headquarters
-
In December 2019, a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19), that reportedly originated from an outbreak of viral pneumonia of unknown cause in the Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province, spread throughout the world and caused a global pandemic. In response to this situation, MIDAC established its COVID-19 Countermeasures Headquarters on April 1, 2020, before a state of emergency was declared in Japan. President Kato herself took the lead as the head of this team and implemented a variety of measures for employee working styles and infection prevention measures in accordance with MIDAC's BCP and pandemic response plans.
From the perspective of now being in the Post-COVID-19/With-COVID-19 era, as of April 2022, we are shifting to a style in which we conduct our business activities while also taking measures to prevent infections of COVID-19.
November 2020
- Launch of the MIDAC Group SDG Promotion Project
-
MDIAC has contributed to SDGs through EMS and CSR activities, and we have now built a new system to promote SDGs throughout the entire group to improve long-term corporate value, which began operating from April 2021.
In building this new system, the "MIDAC Group SDG Promotion Project" was launched, consisting of members that were selected from each department in November 2020, who work together under the theme of "Creating a system to instill an SDG mindset in each executive and employee." The project members repeatedly discussed the new system and specific initiatives, and the content that they decided on was shared with all employees in SDG training.
April 2022
- Transition to a holding company structure
-
On September 1, 2021, MIDAC CO., LTD. changed its trade name to MIDAC HOLDINGS CO., LTD. in accordance with our transition to a holding company structure through a corporate split (absorption-type split and incorporation-type split) that went into effect on April 1, 2022.
As for the method of splitting the company, an absorption-type company split was conducted, with MIDAC CO., LTD. being split off and becoming a wholly owned subsidiary named MIDAC HAMANA CO., LTD., and SANKO CO., LTD. taking over the waste disposal business, industrial waste collection and transport business, and intermediary management business. Additionally, an incorporation-type split was also conducted, with MIDAC CO., LTD. as the splitting company, and the newly established MIDAC LINER CO., LTD. taking over the general waste collection and transport business.
