Social Contributions

Conclusion of a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with Urugi Village

On July 5, 2021, we signed a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with Urugi Village to work closely with each other to promote the SDGs. Taking the signing of this agreement as an opportunity, we will contribute to Urugi Village's development by supporting nature conservation activities and environmental education in Urugi Village and by providing human support, through mutual exchanges between MIDAC and Urugi Village.

Conclusion of a Mutual Support Agreement

On July 12, 2021, we concluded an Agreement on Mutual Support for General Waste Collection and Transport Drivers in the Event of a Pandemic or Other Disaster with Sankyo Co., Ltd., which stipulates that the two companies will cooperate and support each other in order to provide mutual support for general waste collection and transport drivers in the event of a pandemic or other disaster.
The general waste collection and transport business is an indispensable social infrastructure that supports everyone's lives and the economy, and, with the conclusion of this agreement, we will continue to contribute to our customers and local communities by maintaining stable collection and transport operations at all times.
This is the first time in Japan that a mutual support agreement for general waste collection and transportation drivers was concluded.

On March 11, 2022, MIDAC and Urugi Village concluded the Agreement on Disposal of Disaster Waste in the Event of a Large-Scale Disaster such as an Earthquake for the purpose of cooperating in the disposal of waste materials to facilitate early recovery in the event of a large-scale disaster.

Additionally, at the request of our employees' association, we also collected food and other items from employees' homes and donated them to the Children's Cafeteria.

Received the 2021 Hamamatsu City Corporate CSR Activity Award for Excellence

In order to expand social contribution activities by companies, Hamamatsu City awards companies that actively engage in CSR activities (corporate social contribution activities). On March 17, 2022, we received an award for excellence at the 2021 Hamamatsu City Corporate CSR Activity Awards.
We were praised for conducting a demonstration experiment using a mobile circulatory recycling car and for using the mobile circulatory recycling car to hold environmental classes for elementary school students and citizens in the city during which we explained the SDGs and food loss, explained garbage recycling loops, gave a tour of the vehicle, and let participants experience throwing food waste into the composting device installed in the vehicle.

Regional Activities

Mama-zemi (Hamamatsu Mothers' Seminar)

The MIDAC Group has been a member of the Hamamatsu Mothers' Seminar since 2018. During the 3rd Garbage Truck Wrapping Project held in October 2021, the participating mothers, fathers, and children decorated a packer car with very fun and cute images of sea creatures that they made! Recently the number of events has decreased due to the impact of COVID-19, and some events have been held online, but in the future we would like to continue to focus on holding on-site events while also taking into consideration the situation with COVID-19.

Held the MIDAC Grand Lottery

The annual MIDAC Festival in FY2021 was also postponed due to the impact of COVID-19, but we held the MIDAC Grand Lottery. We distributed flyers to people living near our head office in Hamamatsu City, received postcards from numerous individuals, and will send prizes to the winners.

Cleanup Activities

Participation in Operation Wel-Kame (Sea Turtle) Cleanup

Operation Wel-Kame (Sea Turtle) Cleanup, organized by the Hamamatsu City Environment Department, is an event to clean up the coast to welcome loggerhead sea turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs.
It is held every year on the second Sunday in May, and this year marks the 32nd time the event has been held. This year, 91 of our executives and employees and their family members participated in this activity as volunteers.

Hamamatsu Goto Coast Cleanup

We support Shizuoka Prefecture's 6R Prefectural Citizens Campaign.*
As a part of this movement, on Saturday, October 2, 2021, we held a cleanup activity at Hamamatsu Goto Beach.
A significant amount of plastic had fallen onto the beach, and we were able to collect a total of 60 kg of waste, including recyclable waste.
After collecting it, the participants divided it up and sorted the garbage.
After the cleaning, the beach was clean with no litter as far as the eye could see, and, in order to keep the beach in this state, we would like to continue cleanup activities on a regular basis.

*6R Citizen's Movement: To protect the oceans, each prefectural citizen starts with activities that they can do.

Flower Relay Project

As part of the Tenhama Line Flower Relay Project Connecting People and Eras, we weeded the planted areas around Kiga Station.
As an adaptive activity group of the Tenhama Line Flower Relay Project, we will continue to engage in regular cleaning and beautification activities in and around the flower beds planted at Kiga Station.

Environmental Activities

Environmental education is held at Aritama Elementary School by using DVDs we donated.

Every year, we provide environmental education to 4th grade students at Aritama Elementary School in Hamamatsu City in order to raise their awareness of the environment. This year and last year, in consideration of COVID-19, the classes were conducted with pre-recorded DVDs.
